Sterling Silver: Sterling silver is 80-95% silver with a 5-20% zinc fill. It contains no nickel so it is fine for people with allergies. Sterling is the most popular of all the metals, It will tarnish but all metals do. On some people it will tarnish quicker than on others. The reason has nothing to do with the metal it is your body chemistry. I have actually started noticing on myself when the ph of my body is too acidic my jewelry will tarnish quicker. I just clean my jewelry and use that as an indication that I need to consume less acid foods and drinks. You do have to take them out and clean them from time to time and you may find that one earring tarnishes faster than another. It’s completely normal!
Fine Silver: Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver and zinc. It contains no nickel which is great but it will tarnish quicker than sterling silver. I don't recommend pure silver for hoops that you intend to leave in for long periods of time and don't want to have to clean often. Half inch are fine because they are easy to remove clean and put back in. I would purchase a good silver polish too!
14k Gold Filled: We use a 14/20 Gold Filled wire. The fill is gold, copper and zinc and we have found this to be the best when it comes to wear. In fact I have yet to see this wire change even after a year of wearing it daily! I do have to remove my hoops from time to time and clean them as they will get dull looking but with some toothpaste and a cloth they will shine right up. Gold filled will tarnish slowly over time and become dull just like solid gold does, you will still need to clean them from time to time.
14k Solid Gold: We use 14k solid gold because it doesn't contain nickel. It can tarnish but not as easy as 14k gold filled or other metals. The only SOLID (no additive gold there is, is 24k) We don't list it but we will make our designs in 24k as a custom order!
Copper: Copper is a fabulous metal! It is a very pretty and is said to have healing abilities. We do a lot of copper because it is so pretty! It will tarnish and tarnish rather quickly. Again it is all about how much acid is in your system or outside conditions on how fast they tarnish. The more acid the faster they tarnish. You will need to take these out fairly often and clean the earring and the skin where it touches as it will leave a greenish/black spot on your skin.
White Gold: This is very pretty. It isn't as bright as Sterling Silver as it is gold it has a gold cast to it but not as bright as a solid gold. It is considered a precious metal and it does contain nickel so if you have a nickel allergy I would recommend staying away from white gold.
Pink Gold Filled: We use a 14/20 pink gold filled. Pink gold filled tarnish over time and become dull just like solid gold does, you will still need to clean them from time to time.
Gunmetal: This is a copper wire that is coated to look like gunmetal.
Niobium: A silver-gray metal of the transition series, used in superconducting alloys hypoallergenic and really tough! It holds up really well long term and keeps your blacks looking black and browns looking brown. Won't fade or chip!
Plated: We do not sell anything plated! Plated jewelry will fade, chip and the plating will flake off. The plating is just like a paint that is put on over whatever material they are making the item out of and it doesn't last long at all and will cause irritation to a piercing. I would recommend staying away from plated metals!
Decided on the best metal for you? Then let's get started looking at collections!!

I would like a pair of endless “hoop” earrings, 20mm TOTAL length each earring, but I would like the chain to be very small and flexible (pull through size). It is difficult to explain, just a loop of chain that is not stiff, some kind of simple, very small closure devise (even just one larger “piece” of chain that I can pinch closed to connect the 2 ends once I have pulled the chain through. . .). Can I communicate with you about possibly designing an earring like this? I wear very small endless hoops (10mm diameter), but would like just chain. . .
Thank you for your time and consideration.
