Nose Stud Style, Which Type Is Best For You?

Nose Stud Style, Which Type Is Best For You?

Our nose studs custom made at the time of ordering and they are customizable however we have basic styles for them that you can select from and I'm going to go over these styles in this article :)

L Stud Style

The L stud is our most popular nose stud style. Some of our studs require a direction and others don't. Ball, gemstones, fire opals don't require a direction. Hearts, moons and decorative items do require a direction. We make these based on the side of the nose your piercing is on and we make them with the intention of the straight part of the L stud will go to the back of the nose. I have met many people who don't wear them that way, they prefer the tail of the nose stud to stay at the front of the nose and if the nose is a bit short and you are wearing it in this way its likely the end of the L stud will hang slightly out of the nose. Because our studs are customizable we can make them so that the L part goes in the front you just need to let us know at the time of ordering that you prefer it that way.

Nose Bone

The nose bone is probably the second most popular although its a tie between the nose bone and the screw hook really. The nose bone is the most simple of the nose stud styles but there are things to consider. I wouldn't recommend a nose bone if you remove your nose jewelry daily. There is a ball at the end of the stud that pops into the nose piercing and if you are putting it in and taking it out daily it can stretch your piercing a bit. The ball is about .5mm thicker than the shaft. So if you order a 20 gauge nose bone, the shaft will be 20 gauge but the ball will be just over 20 gauge. Too much putting in and taking out will tend to stretch your piercing hole (the nose is the easiest piercing to change the gauge of) If you like to put in your nose studs and leave them in for extended periods of time then the nose bone could be your favorite style. We cut these at 7mm standard but some people require a shorter or longer shaft and we are happy to customize it for you if you leave us a note at the time of purchasing telling us the length you would like!

Screw Hook

The screw hook is always directional and it is probably the most secure of all the nose studs. People who wear screw hooks love them and they wouldn't considering wearing anything else. If your piercing hole is on the right side then you want to order a right screw hook. If its on the left side then a left screw hook is what you want to order. This style is meant to have the loop go to the back of the nose and if you dont push it to the back it will really hang out of your nose!

We can also make these in a "cut yourself" straight pin without the ball if you prefer!
